Aerate — Kelowna Lawn Aerators and Aerating

Aerate — Kelowna Lawn Aerators and Aerating Rates

Aerate — Kelowna Lawn Aerators and Aerating

Aerate your lawn in the Spring or in the early Fall to ensure a healthy thicker lawn. Kelowna area lawn aerators do fluctuate in rates charged for lawn core aerating. Aerators are expensive pieces of machinery costing anywhere from $4000.00 to $6000.00 to purchase, and in as much as they are only used typically 6 to 8 weeks of the year, many aerating businesses will lease their machines. By leasing lawn aerators, the cost to aerate a lawn is kept down.

For a homeowner to rent lawn aerators, and then aerate the lawn themselves, they will be looking at a minimum daily rental charge of $68.00 including taxes. Plus, it requires two people to load and unload the heavy piece of aerating equipment in and out of the back of a truck or van, as it will not fit in a car.

Those who have aerated their own lawn in the past know how physically demanding a task it is, and it must be stated clearly, only those in good health should try to operate a lawn aerator.

At AllThingsExterior.org we offer a simple method for calculating the cost to aerate your lawn area. We base our aerating rates on our past experience with regards to previous lawns aerated, as set our aerating rates based on the time required to service your property.

Aerate — Kelowna Lawn Aerators and Aerating Rates For 2012

For Small Yard Areas:

For small yard areas, best defined as a single small yard, or a yard whereby we can complete the task in 30 minutes or less the cost to you to have us aerate is $60.00.

For The Typical 2 Yard Residential Lot:

For the typical two yard (front and back) residential property where there is less than 2000 square feet of safely accessed lawn area, and where we can complete the task in a time frame between 30 minutes and 60 minutes, the cost to have our aerators service your property is $80.00.

Aerate — Kelowna Lawn Aerators and Aerating For Larger Properties

For Larger Yard Areas:

Our aerating rates are once again based on the time we require to properly and safely unload the machine, run the lawn aerator, and re-load the aerating machine.

Properties will be charged on the following basis:

Up to the first 30 minutes — $60.00

Between 30 and 60 minutes — $80.00

1 to 1.5 hours — $120.00

1.5 to 2 hours — $160.00

2 hours or larger — Machine cost of $68.00 (plus taxes), fuel costs, plus $50.00 per man hour for labor.

It’s important to note that access to a yard surface is not the same as SAFE access to a yard area. All yard areas to be aerated must have a safe access to roll the machine onto the yard without lifting, and the lawn area itself must be a safe surface to aerate.

Sprinkler Heads In Lawn:

It is always the home owner’s responsibility to mark submerged sprinkler heads to prevent damage. Once marked, we safely operate the equipment around these heads, staying away by a few inches to prevent damage.

Pruning is a subject which generates a lot of questions, AllThingsExterior.org is pleased to present to you this video.

The series of practical apple tree pruning tutorials continues with a look at the use of the pruning saw. You can use cheaper models (the Sandvik is OK) but for 3 years now we have only used the Silky Fox brand saws, specifically the Gomtaro Apple Ringo 300mm. This has a very thin blade and graduated tooth size which gives an exceptionally clean cut. you have to be careful on the forward stroke as if the blade catches in a thick branch the tip may snap off, and you have to be careful for your hands at all times since this is a saw which, when new, will go through 2cm branch with one stroke-it will do the same to a finger! Expensive, but like us if you have a bit of wear and tear in your wrists and hands-there is no contest, pay more for a better tool that puts less strain on your joints. Comes with wooden holster. (I have no connection with Silky Fox, and if anyone discovers a better saw, tell me and I’ll use that instead-my trees are worth it)

Pruning is a subject which generates a lot of questions, AllThingsExterior.org is pleased to present to you this video.

Second of six videos on sensitively restoring some old apple trees in a small backyard orchard. Southampton, February 2009. the only tool you need is a good saw, I have posted a few other vids on how to use a saw safely to remove large branches and won’t go over it all again. If in doubt, remove LESS wood than you think you need to, as a rough guide 20-30% maximum, and saw out whole branches to reduce crowding. Remove wood which is obviously dead or diseased. As someone has correctly commented, you should chop up and store the prunings since apple wood produces pleasantly fragrant smoke and is the best there is for barbecues.
